Ken hails from Sioux City, Iowa where he attended the local grammar school and high school. He is a graduate of Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry. He taught in high schools in Illinois, Arizona, and California. He holds an Master's degree from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana and an Master of Social Work degree from the Loyola University of Chicago. He did volunteer work in hospitals and half-way houses for the disenfranchised alcoholics in Portland, Oregon for two separate summers. He spent a summer teaching advanced chemistry to students on the Caribbean island nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. His interests are in reading about the sciences, volunteer work, running, and travel. He has taught at Quigley South, Quigley North, and now Archbishop Quigley with a total of seventeen years teaching experience primarily in chemistry but also in biology, mathematics, religious studies, and social studies.
